Kevin Devine - Ballgame

I actually had only heard the song “Cotton Crush” back when I was still in college and I loved that song to death. The lyrics sort of hit home with me at the time. I soon forgot all about Kevin Devine and almost 5 years later, I was re-introduced to another song of his that really hit home with me.
When XBox LIVE added Last.fm as a service, I was pretty psyched. I put the thing on Right Away, Great Captain! radio and sat out on my fire escape. “Ballgame” was among the first 10 songs that played. This song pretty much breaks down a lot of the more terrifying realizations I have made about the state of mind I’ve been in for the past few years. I’m not exactly a fan of Kevin’s voice, but his lyric writing is really pretty impressive.
Anyways, I’m going to see him in Boston tonight, so the timing seems pretty good.
